Agile Project Manager – Credit Cards

About JAJA

Jaja is an innovative UK based consumer finance business, leading initially with a digital credit card launched in 2018, and a pipeline of consumer finance solutions in the making. Working closely with our scheme provider and leveraging our own consumer credit license authorised by FCA, we are challenging an industry that has seen little real innovation in nearly twenty years.

In July 2019 Jaja led a consortium which purchased the Bank of Ireland credit card portfolio, investing over £0.5bn. It also resulted in fresh investments in Jaja from major Private Equity funds including Centerbridge and KKR who have recognised the change that Jaja is bringing to the market.  As a result the business is growing rapidly and we are on the lookout for great talent across the organisation

About the role

We are on a mission to redefine the consumer finance experience and liberate customers from needless complexity, wasted time and frustration. Or as we say it, Make Simple. We will delight our customers – making the customer experience simpler, more enjoyable, more intelligent – treating customers fairly and giving them more control of their money.

We’re looking for a focused professional with a knowledge of Financial Services or Banking (ideally in Credit Cards); experience of Fin Tech environments; and a technology background of implementing solutions to support critical strategic objectives.

As an Agile Project Manager you will facilitate delivery of technology based initiatives to support the Jaja digital Card in an agile environment, and by working closely with the broader delivery team.

What will be required of you (including but not limited to the following):

<!-- [if !supportLists]-->·       <!--[endif]-->Leverage accumulated technology experience, ideally in a Fin Tech environment, to manage software, data and infrastructure-based projects using any Agile methodology

  • Handle various responsibilities such as planning, scheduling, coordinating, and managing all aspects of technical project delivery whilst championing future process improvement
  • Encourage a sustainable pace with high levels of quality for the team, along with clear accountability for milestone and budget commitment
  • Support the Product Owner in managing expectations for deliverables, managing stakeholder communications, and helping to implement effective project governance
  • Align project deadlines & budgets to broader business and programme timelines and plans
  • Manage risks and issues through early communication of threats, removal of roadblocks and correction of any deviation from plan
  • Interact with service and software providers to understand requirements, develop relationships and ensure accountability for their commitments
  • Implement and roll-out appropriate tools to support Agile development eg. Jira, Confluence
  • Develop and maintain status reporting of the projects according to the demands and nuances of various audiences
  • Conduct Agile training sessions for team members as and when required
  • Maintain software systems and supporting infrastructure if or when required
  • Manage and align the technology roadmap in alignment to the Jaja strategic transformation roadmap

<!-- [if !supportLists]-->·       <!--[endif]-->Apply commercial and financial acumen along with a rounded business experience to deliver technology-based outcomes

<!-- [if !supportLists]-->·       <!--[endif]-->Find creative ways of working to balance the peaks and troughs of multiple concurrent initiatives such that being ‘fleet of foot’ and efficient is a measurement of success

<!-- [if !supportLists]-->·       <!--[endif]-->Use your knowledge and experience to embrace tasks that may deviate from the norm but reflect the versatility and mindset that you have brought to Jaja and its confidence in you

<!-- [if !supportLists]-->·       <!--[endif]-->Bring your personality to the table - smile, give opinions, feel accountable and want to go home knowing you’ve made a difference!

Experience required:

<!-- [if !supportLists]-->·       <!--[endif]-->Solid understanding of software development life cycle models as well as expert knowledge of both Agile and traditional project management principles and practices and the ability to blend them together in the right proportions to fit a project and business environment

<!-- [if !supportLists]-->·       <!--[endif]-->Experience across Banking or Financial Services; and a working knowledge of Credit Cards is a strong preference

  • A proven track record of successfully implementing software or web development projects using Agile methodologies including multiple years of experience managing large, complex projects in a high-tech development environment with multi-function teams
  • Prior experience with SCRUM/Agile methodologies with enterprise-level application development projects. PMI-ACP, CSM or equivalent is beneficial
  • Experience overseeing multi-function project teams including Developers, Business Analysts and QA Personnel
  • Balanced business/technical background:
  • Sufficient level of technical background to provide highly-credible leadership to development teams and to be able to accurately and objectively evaluate complex project risks and issues
  • Ability to provide leadership to business analysts and collaborate with customers and develop strategies and solutions of high business value

<!-- [if !supportLists]-->·       <!--[endif]-->Clear tangible application of other supporting skills including business analysis, solution design, product development, finance & commercial and relationship management

<!-- [if !supportLists]-->·       <!--[endif]-->Extensive working experience in all standard programme support software and tools

<!-- [if !supportLists]-->·       <!--[endif]-->Recognised capability to easily interact and work alongside key stakeholders including senior executives

<!-- [if !supportLists]-->·       <!--[endif]-->A hands-on attitude…we’re a small team and we will need you to roll your sleeves up

You should apply if:

<!-- [if !supportLists]-->·       <!--[endif]-->You instinctively know what it takes to drive the successful delivery of exciting new technology initiatives within the Credit Card industry

<!-- [if !supportLists]-->·       <!--[endif]-->You crave for your working life to be varied and interesting, and you’re not constrained by traditions and legacy

<!-- [if !supportLists]-->·       <!--[endif]-->You care deeply about helping customers manage their money smarter and want to make a tangible impact to an outdated consumer finance industry

<!-- [if !supportLists]-->·       <!--[endif]-->You are a reliable and structured professional and excel in a flat team structure where trust and integrity is the key foundation for everything, we do
